2 held for firing gunshots near BJP leader’s house

The accused, Shreevardhan Tikone and Shekhar Balkawade, fired the gunshots in air outside Dashrath Chavan’s house.

PUNE: Two persons were arrested for firing gunshots outside the house of a local BJP leader from Mathadi Kamgar Sanghatan in Mulshi on Tuesday night.

Those arrested were identified as Shreevardhan Tikone and Shekhar Balkawade, both residents of Paud under the jurisdiction of Pune rural police.

The incident occurred over the issue related to political domination in Mathadi Kamgar Sanghtan in Paud, said police.

According to the Paud Police, a group gathered outside the house of Mathadi Kamgar Sanghatan leader Dashrath Chavan who is associated with BJP on Tuesday from 8 to 10 pm. The two accused, who were amongst the group which gathered outside the house of Chavan, fired the gunshots in the air. After the gunshots were fired, a mob of 30 to 40 locals gathered there and overpowered the accused persons and their associates. They managed to get hold of one of the accused and handed him over to the police.

A case under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered against the accused persons.
