The new members will be elected in the general body meeting scheduled for Friday

Pimpri: Two BJP corporators have resigned as members of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Standing Committee, where usually there is a rush for securing a seat for the obvious reasons.

Hence, two seats from the BJP quota are vacant on the panel. The new members will be elected in the general body meeting scheduled for Friday (April 20).

The Standing Committee has 16 members and of these 10 belong to the BJP, four to NCP, along with a Shiv Sena and an independent member. Rahul Jadhav and Sheetal Shinde have resigned from their post as they did not get the post of chairperson of the committee.

Jadhav and Shinde are likely to be appointed as mayor and deputy mayor, respectively after the current mayor and deputy mayor complete 15 months in office. Mayor Nitin Kalaje accepted Rahul Jadhav’s resignation. SheetalShinde’s resignation was accepted by Deputy Mayor Shailaja More.
