18-year-old cheated of Rs 3.64 lakh on app

An 18-year-old youth from Aundh, who was looking for a dating partner online, was cheated to the tune of Rs 3.64 lakh. The youth has now lodged a case against an unidentified person at Chatuhshringi police station. 

Pune: An 18-year-old youth from Aundh, who was looking for a dating partner online, was cheated to the tune of Rs 3.64 lakh. The youth has now lodged a case against an unidentified person at Chatuhshringi police station. 

As per information given by the police, the youth is a Standard XII student. He had visited ‘Locanto’ dating mobile application.
 
The incident took place between November 17 to 27. The youth was approached by an unidentified person on his mobile. The fraudster asked the victim that he will have to deposit some amount to start dating girls. 

The victim did as instructed and used his father’s account to make the payment. The fraudster continued to ask for money from the victim and the victim ended up paying Rs 3.64 lakh in total to the fraudster.
 
When the father of the victim realised that he has lost money from his account, he asked the victim about it.  The youth then revealed the incident, who then approached the Chatuhshringi police to lodge a case. Police Inspector Vaishali Galande is investigating the case.
