17-year-old girl drowns in Indrayani river

Shalini Chandrabalan, a resident of Akurdi came to the river along with her brother and sister.  While walking on the bank of the river she slipped into the river and flowed away with the strong current of water. 

PUNE: A 17-year-old girl drowned in Indrayani river near Shelarwadi in Dehu Road area on Sunday afternoon. A case has been registered in this regard at Talegaon MIDC police station.

Shalini Chandrabalan, a resident of Akurdi came to the river along with her brother and sister.  While walking on the bank of the river she slipped into the river and flowed away with the strong current of water. 

According to the police, the girl was accompanied by her brother and sister. They tried to save her and got into the water but couldn’t rescue her due to the flowing river water. They were pulled out by the locals present at the spot at the time of the incident. A team of National Disaster Response Force was rushed to the spot and recovered the body in afternoon.
