Gitte said the ring road passes through a green zone belt at many places and many people have built illegal structures that fall on the proposed ring road plan.

Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has so far identified 1,650 illegal structures on the proposed 110 m wide ring road. This information was shared by PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte.

Gitte said the ring road passes through a green zone belt at many places and many people have built illegal structures that fall on the proposed ring road plan. As PMRDA will be starting with the land acquisition process for development of the ring road and town planning schemes near the ring road, it will have to take action against these structures.

"Many people were aware of the ring road plan and despite this they went ahead with illegal construction at the proposed ring road site. Many people have encroached the area near the ring road and have also built shops. Action will be taken against these structures. Some people have informed local the grampanchayat, while some have built up these illegal structures without informing the grampanchayat," added Gitte.

Speaking about the homes of farmers falling on the ring road, Gitte said a decision is yet to be taken for such scenarios. "We have a team of engineers and we will again start a survey of illegal structures on the ring road," added Gitte.
