Pune: The Air India flight from Pune to Stockholm has recorded a 14 per cent rise in the number of passengers within a month of its launch, claimed Air India officials. Pune passengers have to take a connecting flight to Delhi without paying extra fare, from where the Stockholm flight takes off.
Buoyed by the response to their Stockholm flight, AI has launched another flight to Copenhagen with the same fare from Pune. These two flights operate every alternate day during the week. “Pune passengers opting for connecting flight to Stockholm/Copenhagen from New Delhi are getting a chance to travel for free to Delhi due to the unique ticket pricing structure,” said Suhas Jadhav of Air India, Pune.
According to the officials, “The Stockholm flight was started on August 16. Flight number AI 167 New Delhi to Stockholm operates on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight departs from New Delhi at 2.50 pm and flight number AI 852 departs from Pune to New Delhi at 7.40 am and arrives in New Delhi at 9.50 am, so that passengers can take the Stockholm flight. Bookings of the flight for Stockholm have increased after one month from its launch. The return flight number AI 168 from Stockholm, which operates on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays arrives in New Delhi at 7.40 am on the next day. When the flight arrives in New Delhi, the connecting flight for Pune is at 4 pm.”
“Similarly, the Copenhagen flight was started on September 16. Flight number AI 158 operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight departs at 2.30 pm from New Delhi. The departure from Pune to Delhi by AI 852 is at 7.40 am. The arrival in Pune by AI 849 from Delhi is at 4 pm. The fares from Pune are now same for the Delhi-Stockholm/Copenhagen flights,” said the officer.
