13 phones recovered; 2 nabbed

Officials of Crime Branch Unit I of the city police arrested two history sheeters involved in mobile snatching cases in Shivajinagar, Bund Garden, Faraskhana, Vimantal and Sinhagad Road, Koregaon Park and Vishrambaug.

PUNE: Officials of Crime Branch Unit I of the city police arrested two history sheeters involved in mobile snatching cases in Shivajinagar, Bund Garden, Faraskhana, Vimantal and Sinhagad Road, Koregaon Park and Vishrambaug.

The accused were identified as Shankar Pandekar (19) of Indiranagar and Sunny Ramesh Misal (22) from Saswad.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane said the duo accused had come to sell stolen mobile phones near Shivajinagar.

“Officials of Crime Branch Unit I received a tip-off and accordingly a trap was laid. In all, 13 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh and a two-wheeler were recovered from the accused,” added Deputy Commissioner of Police Dahane.

Police Inspector Nitin Bhosale Patil of Crime Branch Unit I said the accused would target people talking on their phones and walking with their mobile phones in their hands on footpaths.
