1.13 L citizens apply for PMAY

Monday was the last day for submitting the applications to the PMC to avail the benefits under this scheme.

Pune: Around 1.13 lakh Puneites expressed interest in ‘Prime Minister Awas Yojana’ (PMAY), the government’s ambitious housing for all scheme. Monday was the last day for submitting the applications to the PMC to avail the benefits under this scheme.

Under this programme, around 26,000 slum dwellers applied to avail pucca houses at the place where their shanties are located. Totally, 24,000 citizens, who belong to the lower income group, have also applied under this scheme, while 31,000 citizens wish to be part of the scheme for developing the homes under private or partnership basis, and 17,000 citizens belonging to the economically weaker section have also applied under the scheme.

Meanwhile, PMC has appointed private agencies to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). Once the DPR is prepared, it will be presented to the PMAY for seeking its approval and executing the project.
