PUNE: The 112th convocation of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be held at the new administrative building of the university on January 20.
Eminent scientist and president of Global Research Alliance Raghunath Mashelkar will be the chief guest. A total of 97,133 students out of which 79,317 are graduate and 17,762 are post-graduate students will receive their degree certificates for the academic years 2016-17. Moreover, 347 PhD students will receive the degree certificates and 58 students will be awarded gold medals this year. As many as 70,221 degree certificates will be sent to their respective colleges.
After the establishment of Maharashtra Public University Act 2016, this will be the first convocation to be hosted by the varsity. Like every year, a maximum number of students graduating are from engineering and management faculties.
