11 chain snatching incidents reported on Vat Pournima

The chain snatchers targeted women devotees who dressed well on the occasion and wore ornaments

Pune: Around 11 incidents of chain snatching were reported across the city on the occasion of Vat Pournima on Wednesday. 

The chain snatchers targeted women devotees who dressed well on the occasion and wore ornaments to perform the ritual of worshipping the banyan tree for the well-being of their husbands. According to the police, the thieves involved in snatching crimes operate at a large scale on such occasions and target the devotees who are en-route for worship.

On Wednesday, the chain snatching incidents were reported under the jurisdiction of various police stations including Kondhwa, Shivajinagar, Lashkar, Wakad, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Sanghvi police station. Under the jurisdiction of Sangvi police station, four incidents of chain snatching were reported in just half an hour.

Overall, 11 incidents of chain snatching were reported across city and all victims were women offering prayers on occasion of Vat Pournima.
