10 booked for assaulting teenager with weapons

Pune: Ten persons have been booked for attacking a teenager with sharp-edged weapons in Sinhagad Road area on Sunday night.

The prime accused have been identified as Abhishek Londhe, Rishikesh Shinde and Uday Nath whereas the identity of seven others has not been revealed yet. 

Londhe, Shinde and Nath were known to the victim, Omkar Dhumal, who was attacked by a chopper outside his house at Maharshi Nagar area of Swargate.

The accused persons also threatened and assaulted the sister of the victim.

According to information provided by Swargate police, the accused led out the murderous assault on the victim while he was standing near Durga Mata Temple near his house. The accused persons, led by the trio Londhe, Shinde and Nath, were brandishing swords and choppers while they entered the Maharshi Nagar locality. They damaged vehicles parked in the area and pelted stones on the houses before leading out the attack on the victim with sharp-edged weapons.

After attacking the victim, they fled from the spot and are still at large. The victim was rushed to a private hospital. Police are investigating the case in order to know the reason behind the attack and is in search of the absconding attackers.

Police have registered a case under section 307 (attempt to murder), 143 (Punishment for unlawful assembly) and 144 (Joining unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapon) of Indian Penal Code.
