‘World class equipment is being used for Metro work’

PUNE: Officials of MahaMetro, on Monday, said that they are using world class technologies and equipment to accelerate the progress of the metro work.

The Pimpri-Swargate metro is expected to be functional by 2019-end  although the timeline set for the same is 2021.

MahaMetro officials said that the Pimpri-Swargate corridor of the metro, which is elevated as well as underground, will be functional from Pimpri to Shivajinagar in the first phase.

The officials said that many types of equipment used for the metro work have been brought from Germany, Italy and other countries.

“The equipment is certainly bringing operational efficiency in the metro work. Equipment like piling ring, launching girder, cranes, JCB machines, excavators and over 1,000 pilings are being erected by the metro officials,” stated a press release by Mahametro.

Mahametro has started work on Pimpri-Swargate as well as Vanaaz-Ramwadi corridor. On the software side, Mahametro is executing the project using 5D BIM or five dimensional Building Information Modelling, which is a digital project management platform that incorporates live project data into virtual models of the whole project. The platform will play a significant role in the asset information management during operations and maintenance of the metro project.
