Pimpri: The first Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad, RK Padmanabhan, on Thursday, during his interaction with journalists on Thursday said that he will try to curb crime in the industrial town.

The Pune Union of Working Journalists (PUWJ) had organised the interaction at Auto Cluster in Chinchwad, from where the new commissionerate is temporarily operating.

“Police will run to help the citizens rather than people going to the police for help,” he added.

When asked about how crime will be controlled here, Padmanabhan said, “The independent police commissionerate will get more manpower here and senior officers will be based here. We will help in controlling the crime and ensure police are people friendly.”

“We will respond to people’s call as soon as possible,” he added.
The officer also added that there will be visible policing, as police personnel will be stationed at major chowks.

Also present on the occasion were PUWJ President Rajendra Patil, Vice-President Rohit Athavale and General Secretary Pandurang Sandbhor.
