Lt Gen Rajendra Nimbhorkar said, “Through the surgical strike, India proved that it can successfully carry out the technique of attack. Through the new courses started by the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, students will get an opportunity to know more about such diverse subjects.”

PUNE: The surgical strike proved that if necessary, the Indian Army can be victorious across the border. It is still receiving positive reactions from across the country even after two years, said Lt Gen Rajendra Nimbhorkar while speaking at a programme organised by the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

Nimbhorkar inaugurated three new important diploma courses of the department.

“Basically, Pakistan always saw India as the country in defensive mode. Through the surgical strike, the Indian Army gave out the message that India, too, can give apt response when the time comes. Such actions always take place on the border,” he added.

After the surgical strike in Myanmar, Pakistan boasted to India not to consider itself as easy as Myanmar. Hence, it was necessary to declare that such a surgical strike had taken place at the time, Nimbhorkar explained.

He said, “Through the surgical strike, India proved that it can successfully carry out the technique of attack. Through the new courses started by the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, students will get an opportunity to know more about such diverse subjects.”

Speaking on the occasion, Pro-Chancellor Prof NS Umrani, said, “The idea behind introducing such unique curriculum in the university is to give students an opportunity to learn something new. The common people in the country respect the Indian Army. With the surgical strike, the respect has increased. The power of decision making of the Army as well as the government is very important. Also, it was equally important to keep the strike a secret until the right moment.”
