Nitin Karmalkar speaks at inauguration of AISSMS Engineering Today 2017.
Pune: “Amidst changing social, economic and political order, there is a need to give serious thought to the current educational system,” said Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘AISSMS Engineering Today 2017’. While stating that the changing world is highly technology-oriented, he said there are many challenges to overcome. He said that one can’t dodge the social issues created by the changing order.
Dr Karmalkar added that the changes in the educational system should be in tandem with the social and economic needs of the hour. He expressed that technology needs to be used in order to achieve social change. He added that the educational system should be changed in such a manner, that we are able to realise India in the dreams of former president Dr Abdul Kalam. He added that engineers can work as a catalyst to bring about change.
Honorary Secretary of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society (AISSMS) Malojirao Chhatrapati congratulated everyone on the account of silver jubilee of the institute. He said that the institute was established by Late Rajarshee Shahu Maharaj, who shared his deepest commitment towards social issues prevalent at that time. He added that every action taken here is a reflection of his vision, and he added that the institute will strive to take this legacy ahead.
Many events are being organised at AISSMS Engineering Today 2017. Around 8,000 students from several colleges in the country will participate in events like DJ Mania, Drone Competition, Robot Mania, Mock Placement, Quizzlers, Internet Treasure Hunt, Hide and Sink, Code Blooded, ATV Room, Rocket Launcher, Technical Quizz, Robot Race, Technical Paper Presentation, Project Exhibition, Model Making, Circuit Wizard, Marketing Mania, Bomb Squad, Poster Making, Science Exhibition.
Joint Secretary Suresh Shinde, Principal Dr DD Bormane and Coordinator Nitin Mavale were present on the dais at the inaugural function.
