‘Provide all facilities to visitors of Vijay Stambh’

Around 8 to 10 lakh people reach the spot to pay homage to martyrs of the battle. A high-level meeting with concerned government officials, Pune city and rural police was arranged by the guardian minister on Friday. 

Girish Bapat appeals to govt agencies

Pune: Pune Guardian Minister Girish Bapat has appealed to government agencies to provide all basic facilities to people visiting the Vijay Stambh in Perne village near Koregaon Bhima on January 1 to celebrate the battle of Koregaon Bhima. 

Around 8 to 10 lakh people reach the spot to pay homage to martyrs of the battle. A high-level meeting with concerned government officials, Pune city and rural police was arranged by the guardian minister on Friday. 

Bapat said facilities like drinking water, police deployment, toilet facilities, ambulances, doctors, fire tenders, electricity, CCTV monitoring and others should be there for the people. 

Bapat has also asked for police deployment for traffic regulation at the place to avoid traffic chaos. This year the battle will be see its 200th anniversary and so a large number of people will be visiting the place. Police Commissioner Rashmi Shukla and Superintendent of Pune Rural police Suvez Haque were present for the meet.
