‘More than 50 billion devices will be connected to IoT by 2020’
Workshop on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, AI, IoT held at BV(DU)COE
Pune: More than 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet via Internet of Things (IoT) by 2020, transforming into a multi-trillion dollar market, Anand Bhalerao, Principal, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering (BV(DU)COE) said this while quoting a report.
He was speaking during a three-day workshop on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), IoT which was recently organised by the college in association with Global Academic Internship Programme (GAIP).
He elaborated about the new trending technological field being adopted by many industries into their operations to increase productivity and efficiency. “Because of its wide range of applications, this technology can be integrated into almost all the industries. Reports also state that more than 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet via IoT by 2020 transforming into a multi-trillion dollar market, he stated. Such is the importance of this amazing technology. Regardless of industry, IoT is predicted to be the single most important factor impacting fundamental business logic in the coming decades,” said Bhalerao.
Around 120 students from all departments of BV(DU)COE attended the workshop.
“‘Smart factories’ using automation, Internet of Things (IoT) technology and cloud computing are becoming the new norm,” he added.
He said, “But this doesn’t mean that human personnel will no longer be needed. In fact, they will be more important and powerful than ever before - aided in their own distinct way by technology. Also data is the lifeblood of all business because data-driven decisions increasingly make the difference between keeping up with competition or falling behind.”
The contents of the three-day workshop was focused to introduce the participants with these concepts and the underlying principles, techniques and methodologies with a complete hands on experience of interfacing user with the system, where system could be a website, a web application or desktop software.
