‘Make a resolution to plant, nurture trees’
Guardian Minister Bapat said, “Tree plantation is the need of the hour and by now everyone has realised the importance of increasing the green cover in our surrounding.."
Pune: Keeping trees alive is a collective responsibility and we should all make a resolution to plant and nurture more and more trees for a better and healthier future, appealed State Food and Civil Supplies Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Girish Bapat on Saturday.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the ‘Van Mahotsav’ of Pune under which 4 crore trees will be planted in the district.
The programme has been jointly undertaken by Forest Department and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
MP Anil Shirole, Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende, Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Dalvi, Pune District Collector Saurabh Rao, Chief Conservator of Forest Vikas Khandekar, PMRDA CEO Kiran Gitte were present for the event.
Guardian Minister Bapat said, “Tree plantation is the need of the hour and by now everyone has realised the importance of increasing the green cover in our surrounding. It is very important to take this step for our future generation” He further praised students and citizens for spontaneously participating in the tree plantation movement.
He added that everyone should make a resolution to plant trees and efforts are needed to nurture and protect newly planted trees.
