Finally, Transport Commissioner Pravin Gedam has taken cognisance of this and asked all Regional Transport Officers (RTO)across the State to identify such agents and collect evidence against them.

The agents can be seen in large numbers at the two RTO premises - Sangamwadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Earlier, the agents were allowed to help the public, but nowadays, there are several unauthorised agents that have mushroomed around the RTOs.

Pravin Gedam, in a letter to all RTOs across the State, said, “Transport office has been receiving several complaints mentioning that unauthorised persons are asking extra charges for any transport related work at Regional Transport Offices.”

“All RTOs are instructed to check these unauthorised persons and spy on them in civil dress. Collect all the evidence or make video recordings and lodge complaints at police stations,” he further added.

“We are working to make online processes user-friendly so that the need for agents is completely evicted. If anyone has faced harassment or trouble from agents, and if there is sufficient evidence about it, police complaint will be lodged against them,” said Gedam.
