‘Heavy rainfall over Gangetic WB’

Pune: Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted by India Meteorological Department (IMD) over Gangetic West Bengal (WB) till October 10 because of an intensified deep depression formed over Gangetic west and adjoining north Bay of Bengal close to Kolkata.

Squally winds speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts during the same time.

The system is very likely to move slowly west-northwestwards initially till October 10 and move northwards thereafter.

The IMD has forecasted rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over north Odisha and Jharkhand till October 11. Rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Chhattisgarh and south Odisha on October 10 and over Bihar on October 10 and on October 11.
Squally winds speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail over Gangetic West Bengal and 30 to 40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph very likely over adjoining areas of Odisha and Jharkhand on October 10.
The IMD has issued an alert warning as the sea is likely to be rough to very rough along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts on October 10. Also, the IMD has issued a warning for the fishermen along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts.
For Maharashtra, the IMD has forecasted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada region on October 10. Rain and thundershowers are likely in Pune city until October 15, predicted IMD.
