‘Central Maharashtra may experience rainfall’

PUNE: Parts of Maharashtra experienced colder weather during daytime and night time on Sunday as well. The lowest minimum temperature in the State was recorded in Nashik at 5 degrees Celsius. Pune recorded 6.2 degrees Celsius minimum temperature on Sunday.

Cold wave conditions prevailed at a few places over central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and many places over Marathwada, reported India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday. Weather Department also noted that cold day conditions prevailed in some parts of Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.

IMD forecast says that some parts of central Maharashtra may experience rainfall on February 12 and 13. In Konkan and Goa, Marathwada and Vidarbha, the weather conditions will remain dry.

NATIONAL SCENARIO
A fresh western disturbance and its interaction with tropical easterlies is likely from February 13, as per IMD  forecast. This is likely to result in scattered to widespread rain or snow over Western Himalayan region and scattered to fairly widespread rain, thundershowers and hailstorms over northern plains and central India with heavy falls at isolated places during the same period.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the plains was 3 degrees Celsius at Khajuraho in east Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Dense to very dense fog was observed at isolated places over Uttarakhand on Sunday.

Dense fog was observed at isolated places over Punjab, Delhi and sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and moderate fog at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on wee hours of Sunday.

RAINFALL EXPECTED
IMD has predicted heavy rain and snow at isolated places is likely over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. Heavy rain at isolated places is likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab during the same time.

Thunderstorm, accompanied by hailstorm, at isolated places are likely over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, north Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are likely during the same time.
