‘Area-specific Traffic Clubs started to resolve local issues’

Police Commissioner Dr Venkatesham was speaking at the closing ceremony of the week-long Police Raising Day celebrations at Magarpatta City IT Park. He interacted with corporate employees and techies from various companies and assured solutions on their concerns and implementation on suggestions they proposed.

Pune:  Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham on Tuesday said that the department is heading towards being more proactive and public oriented for improving law and order and convenience of citizens. 
“Traffic Clubs are being started to resolve area-specific issues. It will include divisional traffic in-charge for more decentralised functioning and area-specific solutions,” Venkatesham said. 

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the week-long Police Raising Day celebrations at Magarpatta City IT Park. He assured that the police are open for suggestions from the public and more interactive relations between the police and public. He claimed that use of digital initiatives by Pune Police such as smartphone apps, helpline numbers and effective use of social media has resulted in decline in crime rate, besides improving response time. 

Dr Venkatesham interacted with corporate employees and techies from various companies and assured solutions on their concerns and implementation on suggestions they proposed. 

During the interaction, the people had raised issues about women’s safety, stalking, social media stalking, cybercrime, stray dog menace, safety of traffic police from pollution, insufficient time for pedestrians to cross signals, noise by dolby systems, road rage cases, vehicles driving on footpaths and staff crunch in the police department. 

The police commissioner assured of efforts to solve issues. He said the traffic police personnel will be given masks to save them from pollution. 

Other senior officers including Joint CP Shivaji Bodke, Additional CP (East) Sunil Phulari, DCP (Economic Offence Wing & Cyber Cell) Jyotipriya Singh, DCP (Zone 5) Prakash Gaikwad, ACP (Hadapsar division) Sunil Deshmukh, Senior Police Inspector Sunil Tambe of Hadapsar police station and MD of Magarpatta City Satish Magar were also present for the event.
