Pune: Bharatiya Republican Party (BRP) National President Prakash Ambedkar held Supreme Court and Union government responsible for riots happening during a nation-wide strike against the recent Supreme Court verdict on the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. He said that due to BJP leaders’ statements of ending reservation, there is unrest in the country and now the SC’s “contradictory” ruling on the creamy layer issue has complicated the situation.
Interacting with media on Monday, on the background of a country-wide strike called by SC/ST and Adivasi organisations, Ambedkar criticised the BJP government. “Several Dalit organisations have called a nationwide strike to protest against the SC decision.
“The Supreme Court has given contradictory decisions on its own earlier judgments. In one of the judgments, the Court clearly ordered filing of a criminal complaint if any official avoids filing atrocity complaint in a police station. Now, the SC is saying do not file atrocity complaint without cross-checking atrocity. On the creamy layer issue, SC had given order there is no creamy layer for SC/ST. Now, SC has given notice to Union government to explain their side on the creamy layer of SC/ST. On this issue, people called a nation-wide strike on social media.”
He added, “Some parties of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) demanded filing a review petition against the Supreme Court’s ruling to country’s President and the Prime Minister but, they didn’t get firm assurance.”
He said, “The situation is going out of control in the country. Every leader is representing their own caste. Government is supporting Sambhaji Bhide and Milind Ekbote. Due to which, unrest is increasing in the country and it will not take more time to become Syria.”
On the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement of underlining the RSS’s inclusive character, he claimed, “Lying is not a character of RSS but also a history of RSS.”
