Sakal Media Group receives global award in digital media

PUNE/CHENNAI: Sakal Media Group has become the leader in new trends in the digital media. The international association of print media, The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), on Wednesday honoured Sakal Media Group during the South Asian Digital Media Awards ceremony. Sakal Media Group was presented the award for its best performance in the social media in a grand ceremony held in Chennai.

The WAN-IFRA 2017 Conference is underway in Chennai. The award was presented to Sakal Media Group by WAN-IFRA Deputy CEO Manfred Werfel and WAN-IFRA (South Asia) Managing Director Magdoom Mohamed. Sakal Media Group Director Bhausaheb Patil, its Editor-in-Chief Shriram Pawar and its Digital Media Chief Sub-Editor Gaurav Divekar accepted the award.

Thus, Sakal Media Group has become the first media company to receive the WAN-IFRA award for the best performance in the social media in the Marathi newspaper industry. This has also put Sakal Media Group in the select group of media houses in the world, which connect through their excellent social media coverage.

Sakal Media Group’s work in the past one year on the popular website in the Marathi online world, esakal.com; facebook.com/SakalNews page having over 10 lakh followers; along with the content on YouTube, Twitter and Instagram were considered for the award.

Newspapers from South Asia were competing for the award. An international jury panel chose the awardee. Sakal Media Group has been consistently connecting with social media users.
