Sakal celebrates 86th anniversary with much enthusiasm & pomp

As the newspaper entered its 87th year, many bigwigs from different walks of life congratulated Sakal and visited the office.

PUNE: Puneites showered their wishes on Sakal as it celebrated its 86th anniversary on the first day of the new year. Many readers showed their affection for the paper and made it a point to visit the Sakal office in Budhwar Peth.

As the newspaper entered its 87th year, many bigwigs from different walks of life congratulated Sakal and visited the office. Sakal Media Group Chairman Pratap Pawar, Managing Director Abhijit Pawar and Director Mrunal Pawar accepted the wishes. CEO Pradeep Dwivedi, CMO Krishna Menon, COO Mahendra Pisal, Director (Operations) Bhausaheb Patil, Chief Editor Shriram Pawar, Editor Malhar Arankaale and Executive Editor Nandkumar Sutar were present. 

Dignitaries from the political field included Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Harshawardhan Patil, Ulhasdada Pawar, Medha Kulkarni and Shyam Deshpande. Police officials included Pune Commissioner of Police Rashmi Shukla, Yerawada Jail Superintendent UT Pawar and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bhanupratap Barge. Artist Rahul Solapurkar was also at the event.

The readers were welcomed to the function with a red carpet and melodious music of shehnai in the background. They were mesmerised by the LED wall presentation that showed the journey of the newspaper. The readers were engaged in discussions right from corporation elections to demonetisation at the event.
