Sakal Times senior journalist Ashish Jadhav no more

Pune: Sakal Times Principal Correspondent Ashish S Jadhav (36) passed away at Poona Hospital on Thursday evening.

Jadhav is survived by his mother Ratnamala, sister Kiran, wife Priyanka and three-year-old daughter Rudrapriya. Jadhav underwent open heart surgery on Monday at a private hospital but later developed medical complications.

The last rites were performed on him at Vadgaon Budruk crematorium on Thursday night. Many journalists and political leaders across all parties were present for the funeral.

Jadhav shared a long association with Sakal Media Group as he started his career with the group with erstwhile Maharashtra Herald. Later, he joined Daily News & Analysis (DNA) and currently was working with Sakal Times.

He covered various beats including education, weather, court and civic affairs.

Jadhav was an avid reader and had a large collection of books on politics. A staunch supporter of the socialist ideology, Jadhav had acumen for political undercurrents in the city and state. A foodie by nature, Jadhav had deep knowledge of various culinary trends. A journalist with a rare sense of humour and ability to highlight lacunae in the system, he was known for his straightforward approach. He had won many friends across the profession.
