Rain expected in parts of State on Feb 7, says IMD

Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorm and rainfall in south Konkan and Goa and south of madhya Maharashtra on February 7. The weather in other parts of the State will remain dry while Pune will also witness clear skies, said IMD.

A slight drop in temperature was recorded in some parts of the State on Saturday night and in the wee hours of Sunday morning. The lowest minimum temperature recorded in the State was 10.2 degrees Celsius in Jalgaon on Sunday. Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

IMD has also predicted that the maximum temperature in the city till February 10 will be as high as 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 13 degrees Celsius. Across the country, the lowest minimum temperature recorded was 3.6 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, Punjab. Dense to very dense fog was observed in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh.

Shallow to moderate fog was also observed in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Haryana in the morning hours of Sunday.

For February 6, thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms are likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. According to IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning are likely over Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and interior Kerala till February 7.

For February 9 and 10, under the influence of a fresh western disturbance, rain or snow is likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, west coast and Lakshadweep. For these two days, weather is likely to be dry over remaining parts of the country.
