Pune: Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 10.9 degrees Celsius, while the lowest minimum temperature in the State was 8 degrees Celsius in Nashik on Sunday. Dry weather is predicted over Maharashtra and Goa in the coming week by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
North India is witnessing a cold wave like situation at various places. Severe cold wave conditions were observed at isolated places over Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and east Rajasthan. Cold wave conditions were prevalent at a few places over gangetic West Bengal and at isolated places over Odisha, Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and northwest Rajasthan. Dense fog was observed over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Rohtak and Hissar on Sunday.
IMD predicted cold wave conditions at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and north Rajasthan. Dense fog at isolated places is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura till January 11.
IMD also predicted strong wind speeds reaching 35-45 kilometre per hour occasionally along and off Tamil Nadu’s coast between January 8 and 11.
IMD has predicted that between January 12 and 13, isolated snowfall is likely over the higher reaches of the western Himalayan region.
Isolated rainfall activity is likely over extreme south peninsular India, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands. Weather is likely to be dry over the remaining parts of the country. Minimum temperatures are likely to remain below normal over northwest, central and east India.
