MUMBAI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu questioned the credibility of the EVMs and claimed that there are rumours that people from Russia are active and alleged that they can hack EVMs. He said that the opposition parties will again approach the Supreme Court (SC) to sought counter checking of at least 50 per cent of the VVPAT slips to ensure transparency in counting of votes.
Naidu made a presentation of the countries which use EVMs, in the press conference. He further said that it is a movement to save democracy and the nation.
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and party leader Praful Patel, Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde, and other opposition leaders were present during the interaction.
“Though there is a rumour about EVM hacking, I can’t confirm it. But it is said that they promise to ensure victory if they are paid money in crores. EVMs can be hacked easily by using many methods.,” Naidu added.
“We are going to file a petition in SC to save democracy and will educate people about EVMs. We have got complaints regarding faulty EVMs from Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala,” Naidu alleged.
Hitting out at BJP, he called it ‘very dangerous’.
“The economy became worst, devaluation of rupee is high, unemployment is at its peak. The media is controlled by this government. The political leaders are under fear. The government is targeting all the opposition leaders,” Naidu claimed.
