7 Marathi movies make entry into PIFF

Pune: As many as seven Marathi films have made an entry into this year’s 16th edition of Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), organised by Pune Film Foundation and the Maharashtra Government, which will take place in Pune between January 11 and 18.

The shortlisted films, list of jury and presence of PIFF forum were announced by Jabbar Patel, Festival Director, PIFF, during a press conference held in the city on Thursday. Makrand Sathe, Selection Committee Member, Samar Nakhate, Vice Chairman, PIFF, Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Prakash Magdum, Director, National Film Archives of India (NFAI), Abhijeet Randive, Creative Head and Selection Committee Member, were also present on the occasion. This year, seven Marathi films across various genres have been shortlisted in the competition at PIFF. Apart from already released and popular films like ‘Muramba’, ‘Faster Fene’ and
‘Kachcha Limbu’; four yet unreleased films - ‘Pimpal’, ‘Ziprya’, ‘Nashibvaan’and ‘Mhorkya’ have made it to the list.

The inauguration of ‘Raj Kapoor Retrospective’ will be done by showcasing ‘Bobby’ and other movies. The festival will also have few movies as homage to recently deceased artists of the film fraternity. Films like ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ (Vinod Khanna), ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ (Reema Lagoo), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (Kundan Shah), ‘New Delhi Times’ (Shashi Kapoor) and Aar Paar (Shayama) will be screened.
