The man who never cared about his chair but focused on results!

Suresh Parabhu can be described as one of the senior most faces in originally Maharashtra’s and now national political sphere who has served in governments under various Prime Ministers without really wearing political colours or going out of the way to exhibit political loyalty. Having known Prabhu for many years one can say that he is the type who doesn’t care too much about losing any position of power, has seen many ups and downs and has high level of integrity.

Having interacted with hundreds of big political faces over last 20-25 years one can confidently say that once has rarely come across a leader who has such high level of commitment to achieving the results and getting the job done without caring for personal gains. The BJP is really lucky to have a leader like Prabhu in their ranks is not known as a politician but more known as a technocrat.

The focus is on Prabhu because of his announcement on social media on Wednesday that he has offered to resign in view of multiple fatal railway accidents that are happening in various parts of the country.

In his communication to the world thru social media, Prabhu said on Wednesday :  “In less than three years as Minister, I have devoted my blood and sweat for the betterment of the Railways Under the leadership of PM, tried 2 overcome decades of neglect thru systemic reforms in all areas leading 2 unprecedented investment& milestones. New India envisioned by PM deserves a Rlys which is efficient and modern. I promise that is the path, on which Rlys is progressing now. I am extremely pained by the unfortunate accidents, injuries to passengers and loss of precious lives. It has caused me deep anguish. I met the Hon'ble Prime Minister taking full moral responsibility. Hon’ble PM has asked me to wait”

This became the trending thing on social media with thousands of netizens showing support for the minister and his cause. Prabhu has been friendly with the members of the media in Maharashtra since 25 years and has spoken in detain many times about his aspirations in detail. He has held several top positions and has maintained equal distance from all established political leaders. Known as a result oriented person Prabhu is also sensitive and communicative which the world has seen during his tenure of last three years.

The problems of Indian railways are related to legacy issues. Like Prabhu said in his tweet. Many things went wrong in the last 25 years which cannot be fixed suddenly. Track maintaining methods, running stock up gradation and may such issues have remained unsolved. It will take a lot of effort for all of this to be back on track. After Prabhu’s offer of resignation, Prime Minister Modi has asked him to wait. The buzz in the national capital is that Nitin Gadkari may be asked to take over railways and Prabhu may be given some bigger role, perhaps the Defence Ministry which would be befitting.
