3 men arrested in Delhi for mobile tower fraud

Pune: Three men in Delhi were arrested by sleuths from Pune city police for allegedly duping people of lakhs of rupees under pretext of installing mobile towers on their homes or renting premises for warehouses.

The arrests were made following an FIR lodged by one Shivshankar Nichchhanmetla (34) of Kharadi with Chandan Nagar police station on June 6. The accused duped him of Rs 4.12 lakh for installing the tower on his house in Bengaluru. They had asked for Rs 5 lakh more but the complainant sensed the fraud and approached the police.

The accused duped him of Rs 4.12 lakh for installing the tower on his house in Bengaluru. They had asked for Rs 5 lakh more but the complainant sensed the fraud and approached the police.

After camping in Delhi for days, the police arrested Ajay Prakash Sharma (29) and Ravikumar Tarachand (28), both residents of Tilaknagar, Delhi, and Akshay Surendra Batra alias Rohit Kumar (29) of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The police are searching for their woman accomplice. The police seized several SIM cards, laptops and ATM cards from their possession.
The police said that on April 18, the complainant came across advertisements about mobile towers and warehouse lease business, in the Bengaluru edition of a national newspaper’s e-paper.

After contacting on the given number, a woman answered and asked him to send his documents like address proof, identity card and house details on their company’s email. The accused persons had floated two companies called ‘Bharatiya Telecom’ and ‘Century Technology Limited’. After that they asked him to transfer money for registration, taxes and agreements.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police arrested four persons who had also spoken to him. They contacted the complainant and asked him to lodge a police complaint, and he filed the FIR on the same day. After investigation Pune police learnt about the role of the other accused and arrested them in Delhi.

On Monday, Police Inspector Satyawan Patil produced them before a court which remanded the accused in police custody till July 8.
DCP (Zone 4) Deepak Sakore and Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mulik guided the investigation team which included PSI Sandip Salunkhe and policemen Daya Shegar, Amol Pilane, Anand Darekar, Shirpure Balaji and Bhosale.

The accused earlier arrested by Hyderabad police were identified as Mohammad Juned Alam alias Amit Zabir Hussain (28) of Ghaziabad, Mohammad Mushir Mohammad Aslam (27) of Muradabad in UP, Anuprit Premkishore Kaur alias Pallavi Sharma alias Neha Gupta alias Manisha Agarwal (28) and Premkishore Chunnilal (33). All of them lived in Delhi. The police said the accused persons used various names
to dupe people.
