State Women’s Commissioner Vijaya Rahatkar will be heading the hearing in the presence of government and police officials. The commission has made an appeal to women in the district to come forward and express their issues.

The commission is running a campaign called ‘The Women’s Commission at your doorstep’, all over the state and the hearing will be part of the campaign. The commission will hold similar hearings in other cities and districts of the state to encourage women to confidently approach the legal remedial systems and not be intimidated in the face of injustice or violence that they may be facing.

The hearing will address the pending complaints with the commission and under the campaign, resolve the newer complaints at the hearing itself.

The hearing will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Prashikshan Kendra at Church Road near Photo Zinco. The district convener of the commission will be present at the hearing along with counsellors and legal advisers.
