Mumbai: Shiv Sena spokesperson and MP Sanjay Raut spoke to Sakal Times about the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has to take hard steps against Pakistan to eliminate terror from Kashmir.

What is your first reaction after the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims?
There is no reaction as such, but the Shiv Sena is looking at the Kashmir issue differently. It needs to be handled with courage by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is the strongest prime minister ever and only because of that he was elected PM by the people of India.

If Modi is the strongest prime minister, then why is terrorism in Kashmir not ending?
That is what I am trying to say. If he is a strong prime minister then he has to take steps to eliminate terrorism from Kashmir. One myth that Modi had told Indians was that after demonetisation, terrorism will reduce, but here in Kashmir after demonetisation it has increased.

What type of courage are you talking about?
Our respected leader Balasaheb Thackeray once said that if there would be an attack on Amarnath pilgrims, no single plane would take off for Haj from India and then no terror attack on Amarnath pilgrim took place.

That was courage. Though he was not in power, he had guts to shut India if anything went wrong with our brothers.

PM Modi might be planning to apply some diplomacy. He is roaming across the world and strengthening relations with other countries. Through his foreign tours, he is turning all countries in favour of India and trying to isolate Pakistan internationally. What do you think of it?
Yes, all countries he visited are saying we are with you (India).

But show me one country that stands with India when it comes to Kashmir. What is diplomacy? Modiji implemented demonetisation without any concern for local people. He implemented GST without considering opposition from the various sectors.

If he can do anything in India, then why doesn't he show his power to Pakistan? If he is trying to isolate Pakistan then it is a good move, but there should be results.

The government has completed three years and still the situation has not improved. What you do abroad is not important, what you do in your own nation for the citizens is most important.

As a political leader and a journalist what would be your solution to this issue?
We are a sovereign country and have to behave like one. Within 24 hours we have to retaliate to the terror attack. There should be an answer for their bullets. How does France reply to such terror attacks? What does Israel do? We have to learn from them.

Do you think that there is no other way to solve the issue?
The Kashmir issue cannot be resolved diplomatically, as Pakistan is not a nation, it is a a gang of guns, terrorists. There is no government and only anarchy is there and it should be eliminated with guns.
