Pune: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Maharashtra and Goa will witness dry weather and an increase in minimum temperatures in the coming week. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded in the city was 18 degrees Celsius whereas the maximum temperature was 32.1 degrees Celsius.
The highest maximum temperature recorded in the State was 35.6 degrees Celsius at Santacruz in Mumbai and the lowest minimum temperature recorded was at Gondia at 9.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
IMD has also forecast an increase in day temperatures in Pune to as high as 32 degrees Celsius and the night temperatures will be as high as 15 degrees Celsius in the coming week.
Across the country, cold wave conditions prevailed at isolated places over Odisha and north Rajasthan. Severe cold day conditions prevailed at many places over Bihar and at a few places over east Uttar Pradesh. The lowest minimum temperature recorded across India was zero degrees Celsius at Sikar in east Rajasthan.
Dense to very dense fog was observed in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.
Dense fog was observed in east Uttar Pradesh. Shallow to moderate fog was observed in Assam and Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the morning hours of Tuesday.
IMD has also predicted that cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are very likely at a few places over Punjab and north Rajasthan and at isolated places over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Cold wave conditions at isolated places over interior Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir are expected till January 20.
