Visit drought-hit areas: Uddhav orders MLAs

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has ordered the party’s ministers and MLAs to visit the drought-affected areas and help the farmers.

After coming back from Akola for a programme with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav called an urgent meeting with his ministers at Matoshree, where he ordered the ministers from his party to go to drought-prone areas.

Uddhav, recently on a visit of the drought-hit areas of Marathwada, said his party will stand firmly behind the farmers affected by drought in various parts of Maharashtra. He also assured that his party will take care of the education of children of the drought-hit farmers.

Uddhav also disbursed financial assistance to the affected farmers at Parbhani.

He asked his ministers to visit the farmers affected by crop loss due to drought, unseasonal rain and hailstorm. “Provide essential items to each affected family. The effort is to help them mitigate their difficulties. They should not contemplate suicide,” he said during the meeting.

During his visit to some of the affected villages in October, he distributed financial help, food grains and sweets for Diwali festival and agriculture equipment to the affected farmers and kin of suicide victims.
