Upcycling contest to create best from waste

Mumbai: Creating the best from waste to check environment pollution was the theme of the Upcycling Competition 2017 organised by Mumbai-based NGO Kabaad Ka Jugaad last August. 

Around 100 teams of aspiring eco-entrepreneurs participated in the contest. Children, students, professionals and others with an improved perception of waste, upcycled waste around them into beautiful products.

Around 100 teams of aspiring eco-entrepreneurs participated in the contest. Children, students, professionals and others with an improved perception of waste, upcycled waste around them into beautiful products. 

The categories were furniture, fashion, games and appliances.
40 teams have been shortlisted for the final round at a festival in Mumbai after judging and 9,000 votes cast on the online platform www.kabaadkajugaad.com by netizens. The finalists have made chairs from plastic bottles, tables from newspapers, Indian wear from plastic packaging, etc.

The 40 ideas will be on display at Kabaad Mela from 1 pm to 10 pm on October 14-15 at Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla (W), at the 
festival. 

Many competitions, workshops and exciting activities will also be held.
