Thane man gets 5 year RI under POCSO act

Thane: A local court has awarded a five-year rigorous imprisonment to a 26-year-old youth for molesting a 10-year-old girl under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.  

Thane Special Judge Ashutosh N Karmarkar also fined Rs 1,000 to accused Ganesh Hanumant Koli from Pavane Gaon of Navi Mumbai recently.

Thane Special Judge Ashutosh N Karmarkar also fined Rs 1,000 to accused Ganesh Hanumant Koli from Pavane Gaon of Navi Mumbai recently.  

Prosecutor Sanjay Londhe said on December 6, 2014 in the evening when the victim, a 5th class student, was at her home, the accused forcibly entered the house and touched her inappropriately. When her parents came, she narrated them the incident. The evidence shows that there was sexual intent on the part of the accused. There were also marks on her chest. A medical certificate also supports the story of victim.  

The accused was, therefore booked under sections 354A(1)(ii) of the IPC and also section section 7 and 9 (m) of the POCSO Act 2012.
