Temperatures increase across State; Vidarbha may get rains this week

Many cities in the State are reporting an increase in day and night temperatures. On Sunday, Pune reported day temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius and night temperature of 15.7 degrees Celsius.

Pune: Many cities in the State are reporting an increase in day and night temperatures. On Sunday, Pune reported day temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius and night temperature of 15.7 degrees Celsius.

According to IMD forecast, the day temperature would be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 16 degrees Celsius this week in Pune. The sky will remain clear during the week.

As per the forecast, the Vidarbha region may witness thunderstorm along with strong winds and rainfall till March 21. Rest of the State will have dry weather over the week.

National scenario

  • On Sunday, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Sikar, east Rajasthan, at 8.5 degrees Celsius.
  • As on Sunday, IMD noted that strong wind confluence and moisture incursion in the lower levels and conducive upper-level features are likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunder squalls and lightning over north Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha, Jharkhand and adjoining Bihar. The intensity may reduce on March 18. 
  • Scattered to fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are very likely over northeast India till March 21. A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain and snow with isolated thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning over the western Himalayan region on March 19 and 20.
  • IMD has also said that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and east Madhya Pradesh till March 21.
