State sanctions Rs 7.97 cr for victims

Pune: A compensation cum rehabilitation fund amounting to Rs 7.97 crore has been sanctioned by the State government for the victims of Koregaon-Bhima riots which erupted on January 2, 2018.

The riots erupted in the areas of Koregaon, Sanasawadi and Shikrapur on the 200th anniversary of the battle of Koregaon-Bhima. 

An official document has also been issued by the State government on August 3, stating that a proposal was sent by the District Collector of Pune to the State government for the approval of the compensation worth 
Rs 7.97 crore after the panchnama and other procedures were done by the administration.

The letter stated that the State government considered the proposal and sanctioned the required amount. The funds should be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries and in no circumstances, it should be given 
in cash.

The State government has issued directions to the collectorate and stated that the administration should tally the expenditure with the State accounting department. The District Collector should make it sure that accounts statement should be acknowledged to the revenue and Forest Department.
