State mulling reduction of taxes on fuel, says Munde

Pune: Considering the rising unrest among the people regarding rising fuel prices, Minister of Women and Child Welfare Pankaja Munde of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared in Pune, on Saturday, that the State government is considering to reduce taxes on fuel. Munde added that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has the right to take a decision on this matter.

On the occasion of completion of four years of BJP in the Centre, Munde addressed a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan to give information about Narendra Modi government’s achievements. District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, BJP city unit chief Yogesh Gogawale and Member of Parliament (MP) Anil Shirole were also present for this conference.

While speaking on fuel price hike, she said, “We were in distress on the issue of fuel price hike even when we were in opposition. Now, even after being a ruling party, we are upset about the fuel price hike. Union and State governments will take a joint decision on reducing fuel prices by including Goods and Services Tax (GST). The government will make a proposal regarding the same, but I can’t make an announcement as it is Chief Minister’s right to take a decision on this matter.”

She further said, “BJP government has achieved more than Congress government could achieve in last 70 years. Modi government has done a lot of things is each and every sector. We have provided individual toilets to 83 per cent population in the country. Earlier, it was only 38 per cent. Government is transferring funds of different schemes to people’s bank account through Direct Benefits Transfer (DBT).”
