State gets good rainfall after dry spell

PUNE: After a dry spell of two weeks, the State received good rainfall from Thursday evening till late night on Friday. 

According to data furnished by the India Meteorological department (IMD), Pune recorded a rainfall of 7 mm on Thursday evening. Till Friday evening, the city experienced 1 mm rainfall.

Other parts of the State also received good rain till Friday evening. As a result, cooler weather conditions prevailed in the State. The highest maximum temperature recorded on Friday evening in the State was 32.2 degrees Celsius at Chandrapur while the lowest minimum temperature recorded was 17.6 degrees Celsius at Mahabaleshwar.

The maximum temperature in the city on Friday was 26.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 21.9 degrees Celsius. The seasonal rainfall recorded for Pune is 253.4 mm. The average seasonal rainfall for the city is 222.3 mm for this period. 

At the national level, the southwest monsoon further advanced into some more parts of West Rajasthan covering segments of Jaisalmer, Phalodi and Nagaur. The IMD stated that the well-marked low pressure area over west Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood persisted. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places in Madhya Maharashtra in the coming week. It may also occur at a few places at isolated places over Konkan and Goa till July 15.

However, Vidarbha and Marathwada will continue to experience the dry spell in the coming week.
