Pune: The State government has issued a notification to de-reserve amenity space reservations for the primary health centre, fire brigade centre, playground and maternity home into a residential zone located in Kothrud area. This is the second such case that the State government has decided to change reservation within one year following approval of old Pune city development plan.
Earlier, the State had issued a notification about changing a garden reservation situated in Baner area.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) draft of old Pune city development plan (2007-2027) was approved by the State government in January 2017. In this, the civic body has shown reservation of fire brigade centre, playground, maternity home and primary health centre in Kothrud area on survey number 159, 160 (part) and 167 (part).
On Monday, the State government issued a notification in exercise of the power under Section 37 which says the government finds it expedient to publish the notice for the said proposed modification inviting suggestions and objections from the general public within a period of 30 days from the date of publication of this notice in Maharashtra government gazette.
The State government has mentioned the reason in notification that Pune district collector has requested to delete site number 6 fire brigade as well as primary school and playground, dispensary and maternity home proposed on land bearing survey number 159, 160 (part), 167 (part) of village Kothrud which is acquired for resettlement of flood-affected persons.
One of the senior officials of the corporation said, “We have to check reservation and after that, we will take the decision to register our objection or not.”
Avinash Patil, Deputy Director of State Town Planning Department, said, “According to the notification, we will appeal to people to register their suggestions and objections on the said de-reservation of reservation. After collecting all the suggestions, we will visit the site and check the necessity of changing reservations and the reason.”
“We file our say along with a report to State government. After that, the State will take the final decision. Right now, we don’t know about the reason for changing reservation officially,” he added
He said, “For Baner changing reservation, local corporators, public, Pune Municipal Corporation had raised the objection.”
Last month, the State government issued a notification of de-reserving garden reservation in Baner area on which the civic body took objection and submitted their written application to the State government Town Planning
Department which is carrying out the process of collection of suggestions and objections from the public.
On the changing reservation, Medha Kulkarni, MLA of Kothrud, said, “I haven’t seen notification of the State government due to monsoon season. I will check it and give a letter to the Urban Development Department about not to change the reservation.”
“Earlier, the department issued a notification about changing garden reservation of Baner area in which I had registered objection,” she further added.
