State Cabinet expansion soon, says CM Fadnavis

Mumbai: The Maharashtra cabinet will see an expansion soon, State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said at an event on Sunday.

“After the Union cabinet reshuffle and expansion, the Maharashtra government will also go for expansion of its Cabinet. The details of the expansion will be out to the public at the appropriate time,” Fadnavis told reporters at the sidelines of an event in Aurangabad. The CM was in Aurangabad for the anniversary celebration of the Marathwada freedom movement.

Marathwada freedom movement day is celebrated on September 17 annually and marks the anniversary of Marathwada’s integration with India when the Indian military, with help of local rebels from Marathwada, annexed the State of Hyderabad, overthrew the Nizam and merged Hyderabad into the India in  1948, 13 months after Indian independence.

According to sources in the BJP, Fadnavis had asked for a review of works of all ministers and MLAs in the State over the last three years and is likely to take a decision based on their performance. There will be an assessment of their work before finalising new faces for the State cabinet, the sources further said.
