Stampede at Elphinstone railway station; 22 dead 36 injured

Due to heavy rains in Mumbai today, the train was late and had resulted in heavy crowding at the station.
 

Mumbai: 22 people have died in a stampede at Elphinstone railway station's foot over bridge in Mumbai and the number might increase.

About 36 people have been injured in the incident and admitted to KEM hospital.

According to BMC Disaster Management Cell, a short circuit occurred at the station. The news spread panic among the commuters and as people stared to run out of the station to safety, they were trapped at the narrow foot over bridge.
