Shah also visited actor Madhuri Dixit and industrialist Ratan Tata

Mumbai: As a part of Sampark for Samarthan (to reach for support) campaign, BJP Chief Amit Shah met Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence ‘Matoshree’ on Wednesday. A closed door meeting happened between the two leaders where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Yuva Sena Chief Aditya Thackeray were also present.

Shah also visited actor Madhuri Dixit and industrialist Ratan Tata but a meeting with legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar could not take place as her health was not well.

This is Amit Shah’s second visit to meet Thackeray at Matoshree. Last year, he met Thackeray to seek support for the NDA candidate for the president’s post.

After the recent by-polls, relations between the two parties have become strained and leader of both parties are claiming of contesting the election on their own.

Shah’s visit was to patch-up cracks in the alliance over various issues. According to sources, BJP State President Raosaheb Danve did not attend the meeting after a complaint was made by Shiv Sena’s Minister for State Arjun Khotkar.

During the visit, Aditya Thackeray and Milind Narvekar welcomed Shah at the gate of Matoshree which is a sign that Uddhav Thackeray is still not convinced about BJP’s strategy to end the enmity with its ally.

After the formal meeting, there was again a closed door meeting between Shah and Uddhav Thackeray over the political scenario.
