Pune: The Sakal Media Group, on Monday at a function here, announced that it will conduct the ‘Miss Maharashtra 2018’ beauty pageant, in a joint venture with PN Gadgil Jewellers.
Interestingly, the first three winners of this beauty pageant will get an opportunity to work in films of renowned Marathi film producers and directors, including Mahesh Manjrekar, Nanubhai Jaysinghani, Raju Parsekar and Milind Kawade.
Renowned and well-known personalities from Marathi celluloid like Parsekar, Mrunal Kulkarni, Umesh Kamth, Smaruddhi Pore and Vijay Patkar were present. The aim of this beauty pageant is to find, recognise and provide opportunity to the young, talented girls from rural and tribal belts of the State. Girls from Mumbai and Pune get opportunities to participate in such events, but for girls from rural and tribal areas, it is very difficult. This competition will provide that opportunity to them.
These girls will be groomed and trained and will be made ready to act in the movies, expressed the guests present for the function.
“The pageant is solely dedicated to ‘girls’ education’, and we are sure that the quality of the programme will be of topmost category. Over the years, we have seen that various activities carried out by Sakal have always been of high quality and no doubt, this pageant event too will be of great stature. Surely, the competition will help in finding a diamond,” said Pore. The Marathi film industry gave its support for the event unanimously.
Manjrekar, due to some unavoidable circumstances, was not present for the function, but his message was read out during the function. District wise auditions will be conducted for the pageant so that the young girls from taluka places can participate in it. The pageant will bring forth the rural talent, said Kulkarni, Pore and Parsekar on the occasion.
