Sakal Drawing Competition gets an overwhelming response

Pune: It was the time when the young and enthusiastic students poured their hearts onto the paper, painting the entire world red, green, blue and white. The 32nd Sakal Drawing Competition 2017, which was held on Sunday across Maharashtra and Goa, saw an overwhelming response from students and their parents, who had come to drop and pick them at the venue. About 7 lakh students participated in the drawing competition. The main attraction this year was the participation of over 60 ashramshalas and over 50 schools of special children.

LuvIt Chocolates distributed chocolates in selected schools in Satara, Pune as well as in Mumbai. In Panchgani, Satara district, all the students of New Era High School participated in the drawing competition.

The overwhelming response to the competition, the enthusiasm among the participants and nerve bitting moments could be sensed at the various schools in the city. The students made it a point to reach the venue travelling in buses, rickshaws or on two-wheelers.

Sakal Media Group (SMG)provided drawing papers to the young participants and they had to draw and fill the colour according to the topic given to them. Swanandi Gorkhe, a standard III student of Novel International School, Chinchwad, said, "I got the topic to draw a picture of kites. I am very fascinated with the sky and its blue colour and thus the topic filled me with happiness. While drawing on the topic, I imagined that I am flying a kite with my friend and the kite is going high in the sky like birds fly at high altitudes."

A Standard VII student of Saraswati Vidyalaya, Akrudi Subham Meher, said, "Among the topics given to us, I picked up a topic on 'jungle' and drew elephants grazing in the forests, while parrots were sitting on the trees. I did shading to the picture with the help of oil pastels, which gave a very different look to the picture making it stand out in the crowd."

The competition was powered by LuvIt Chocolates, LIC while associate sponsors are Sri Chaitanya Techno School and Jingle Toons, Eye Care Partner India's Leading Opticians Gangar Eyenaion, Environment Partner Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Corporate Partner Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

The results of the competition will be published in January 2018.

The competition was open to all students from Std I to X from Maharashtra and Goa and was held in four groups including- group A: standard I & II, group B: standard III & IV, group C: standard V to VII and group D: standard VIII to X.

SMG thanks, principals, teachers and schools
