PUNE: “We have taken a peaceful path on the Maratha Reservation issue by conducting peaceful marches. Now, we are ready to do anything for the reservation,” said Nilesh Rane, a Swabhiman Organisation leader, son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-supported MP Narayan Rane and ex-MP of Congress Party, warned the State government on Monday in Pune.
Rane was in Pune and during an interaction with media, he said, “Maratha leaders are following up with the issue and fighting for reservation. The High Court has also instructed the State government to file their affidavit on the reservation as early as possible. We hope that the government will file their affidavit. Now, we will not wait and we are ready to fight for reservation other than organising peaceful morchas.”
He further said, “BRM leader Ambedkar is making misleading statements on the reservation. He is creating a rift between the two communities. It is a matter between State government and the commission. So, there is no need for Ambedkar to express his opinion on it. All he has to give is to support the Maratha reservation, otherwise, it will be difficult for him to stay in Maharashtra.”
Speaking about the Kopardi incident, he said, “Four people attacked the culprits of Kopardi rape incident and the police arrested them. After that, they were bailed out. It is a sub-judice matter now. They are from a poor family and are ready to do anything for Maratha community.”

“If a farmer is facing losses, it is not good. Hence, farmers should discuss the issue with State government and sort it out. We are with the farmers,” Rane said.
