PUNE: Against the backdrop of the recent paper leak and university website hacking issue, Savitribai Phule Pune University’s (SPPU) Board of Examination held a meeting on Saturday.

Two students named Adesh Chopade and Chinmay Atrawal of KK Wagh Engineering College from Nashik were arrested by the Nashik police in connection with the paper leaks and hacking of the SPPU website last Sunday. The two were studying Bachelors of Engineering in Information Technology (BE IT). They were arrested after it was reported that a question paper of second year linear algebra in Bachelors in Science (B Sc) stream was leaked by two people in Nashik.

On Saturday, the board decided to hold a re-examination of Linear Algebra in second year Bachelors of Science course (SYBSc) on May 18. This exam will be held only at colleges in Nashik district. A circular related to this will be published on SPPU website on Monday, stated an official statement from the varsity.

As per a source, this decision was taken because the paper leak was restricted to some colleges in Nashik. The official statement also mentioned that action against the two accused students will be taken after completion of the police investigation.

According to sources, the two accused had hacked the university’s examination section’s mail address through which they could access the question papers. It has also been decided in the meeting that an audit of information technology system in SPPU will be held soon. A report of this will be submitted within 15 days by the IT Department.
